I've said it over and over; there is one easy deal that Toronto could make to upgrade their blueline. Trade JVR to SJ for Justin Braun. If SJ wants more because the market is too rich for defensemen, offer them their picks back. They are about to lose 2 important forwards in Marleau and Thornton and would probably be interested in JVR and have the money to pay him a considerable extension. Braun holds the fort until Lilegren or Rasanen are ready.

Perhaps there may be something cooking with the Canes ..... but we will not know until the deal is done, signed and delivered.

Yep. Maybe a M. Stone with one of the Swedes and maybe Dermott might be all that is needed.

I've said it a few times, we started bad...Andersen/Enroth. We lost a lot of games late it the 3rd but seemed to fix that later in the season. Just with those changes and no Marincin or Hunwick could be a difference maker.

Addition by subtraction and all the experience the rookies got should show an uptick for next season.

I think they'll wait until their drafted players become the help they need.

As bad as people say the Leafs D are, they conceded around 15 goals more than the middle of the pack in 82 games.

Let's assume they don't blow 10 2 or 3 goal leads this season. They would've given up the same amount of goals as the Cup winners.

They can achieve this a number of ways. One way is to have a 4th line centre that can win crucial draws. They can also trade defensively inept players like JVR and Bozak for forwards who can also defend.

Lots of options that don't involved getting fleeced

I could see the Habs interested, but it's hard to put a price on a 37 year old, coming back from injury Joe Thornton...
